Course Content |
The two main questions to be discussed in this workshop are:
- What barriers to learning does group work usually create, and how can these be reduced?
- How can group work be designed for diversity, giving all students equal opportunities to thrive?
The workshop will focus on the design of group work that is inclusive and accessible, specifically when students work in groups on medium or long-term collaborative tasks or projects.
Activities will allow participants to practice working with the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines, which support the design of inclusive and accessible learning and are based on the learning sciences’ research on how humans learn best. Participants will consider UDL recommendations to design a group work activity and learn to identify specific strategies that can be implemented in their own teaching.
